My Grandfather Albert (Dick) Swain worked at H&B from approx. 1910 until his retirement in approx. 1950. He was the manager of the moulding dept.
He originated from Birmingham and came to Accrington because of his experience in moulding cast steel as opposed to cast iron.
I seem to remember he had a big send off at the then Ritz Ballroom.
He passed away in 1958 at the age of 78 and had lived at 1, Belfield Rd. for most of the time.
