Well Margaret your money was well spent (even if not planned for before dry rot raised its ugly head). We didn't worry about celebrating our 50th as most of our immediate family were away at the time, and if we had wanted to celebrate it would have been with all of them together. As this couldn't be arranged we didn't do anything special at all. It was just him and me. In the June of that year my youngest daughter came home from the Caribbean (where she lived for some 3 years) to get married here - so that was celebration enough.

You are quite right, marriage does need to be worked at, definitely not all beer and skittles.

That was some distance for your other half to travel to get back to you - and here I was thinking having someone ride a bike 17 miles to see me was quite an accomplishment and I mention it often - I'll shut up about it now.....

By the way, it's 59 years not 69 - but what's 10 years between friends - ha ha.
