Merv plays bass in the rock band FM who are still touring and playing at this time. He also played in a band called Diamond Head who I witnessed filling the Ardwick Appollo.
He lived on Ascot Way in Accrington, his dad ran Springfield Beverages, delivering pop round the area.
I have many happy memories of playing out in the grounds of Broad Oak House, and racing round Sandy Lane track on our bikes.
