James hargreaves - spin doctor

The Stanhill Village Heritage Project was set up nearly four years ago with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund. It is based in the village where James Hargreaves invented the Spinning Jenny in 1764 and set in train the industrial textile revolution that helped make Lancashire part of the first 'Northern Powerhouse'.

We organise walks and talks in the village including a heritage trail, demonstrations, videos, leaflets and much more. Since January around 250 people have been involved including school parties and groups. If you are interested in finding out more please contact us via our website at stanhillvillage.co.uk. We are particularly happy to arrange free visits for groups, day or evening. A bonus is the presence of the excellent Stanhill Pub and Kitchen which is local and adds a gastronomic plus to the visit.

As a start you can visit our You Tube video 'James Hargreaves - Spin Doctor'.

We look forward to hearing from you.
