This is a further response I have had from Tesco...the only supermarket that has responded.

Dear Margaret

Thank you for contacting our Chief Executive.

We find ourselves in an unprecedented situation, where we need to react very quickly to changes in circumstances for our staff and our customers. We recognise that some situations are far from ideal, but we are listening to our customers and government announcements to meet as many of our customers’ needs as possible in these challenging times.

We always want to help support our NHS heroes who helping us all at these difficult times and we are always wanting to show them our appreciation. Thank you for your suggestion whilst the current situation is happening and I have put this forward, on your behalf, to the business partners.
