I was browsing the Lancashire news as I sometimes do, when an article caught my eye about someone who had been "Magnet Fishing" in the Leeds Liverpool as it passes through Burnley.
The lucky angler came up with a grenade on the end of his line. Later it was found to be a disarmed dud but it got me thinking.
Before I left England I had worked at Lucas Gas Turbines in Burnley at multiple facilities including Harger Clough, Wood Top and Northbridge.
Now the Northbridge facility was right alongside the Leeds Liverpool and the number of Scrap Jobs that got tossed and lost in the cut was Legendary.
Sadly Lucas is no longer with us but I wonder what still lurks under the lovely waters of the cut?
Anyone up for "Magnet Fishing"?
