checks are made of prospective tenants but we have limited powers as an RSL (Registered social landlord) to refuse housing.
Also someone being an alcoholic does not exclude them from needing housing.
As for nuisance issues, these are very difficult to deal with as in many cases people are not happy to report it let alone fill in the required paperwork/reports to allow us to take it further.
EVICTON HEARING
Judge: So what evidence do you have that this person is causing intolerable nuisance to his neighbours
Housing: Because we say so!!
Case thrown out
Plus just getting as far as an eviction hearing is time consuming and full of red tape!
