Ok not many more to go, our 40th of the season sees a League 2 trip over to the north east on Saturday to take on the bottom of the football league, the Quakers of Darlington. Unfortunately relegation for Darlington now seems imminent, made all the more difficult by our crumbling display on Monday against 2nd from bottom Grimsby. Darlo have really been battling for pride and getting results recently under new manager Davy and only narrowly lost to Hereford 1-0 on Monday at the oversized Darlington Arena after they had managed 2 back to back wins for the first time this season.
It is a bit of a shame to see whats happened up at Darlo - they used to be a side always pushing for a playoff spot with Pavel Abbott wrecking defences and we always used to dread the Darlington fixtures coming round. Up until last season, Stanley had never beaten Darlington since we were promoted to League 2 in 5 attempts then we managed a 1-0 home win in March last year. This season, way back in September on a Friday night we also won again at the Crown, 2-1.
With recent Stanley results and Darlos wins at Burton and Shrewsbury, Im pretty sure who the more confident of the two teams are at the moment but how will this one pan out?
