Tom was one of the two halbardiers who accompanied the mayor on civic occasions. Others were PCs Murdo McAuley, George Thompson, Jack Fletcher & Sgt Jim Warrington.

Not sure if Tom Davies is still alive Bob, but he did live at the top of Aitken Street, when he left the police he was wefare officer at Shopfitters for years.
