Re: Accrington born artists.

I have quite a few photocopies of Leo's sketchings. He was a talented black and white illustrator. Pity the library no longer have his portrait on show. His father was a dentist on Blackburn Road, near the old Grammar School.

Re: Obituaries of noted Accringtonians.

Thought this gentleman was worth a mention again Garinda. He was mentioned in a thread in 2004 by Accy-mad.

Atarah knew of him ... of course .. Seems he has a chapter in one of Bob Dobson's book too.

I have only just come across him because I have recently had contact with a classmate of mine from Peel Park and turned out was her uncle.

Thanks to Garinda, I am now aware of this lady. I just LOVE her paintings. Wish she would exhibit up the Haworth Art Gallery. I particularly like the one she's done of Warner Street. Wonder if I could buy a print? Will contact her gallery.

The Warner St one looks really good. We should get her up at the Gallery as you say.

Good.

Those sleepless nights, spent trawling, paid off.

Be great to see her exhibited at the Haworth. I think she'd prove popular.

Turns out she was born in Park Road, Accrington in 1978. I love the local views she has done.

Re: Accrington born artists.

TREVOR LINGARD

Born in the Lancashire mill town of Accrington, in 1952, Trevor lives in the picturesque village of Sabden, nestled in the historic witch country of Pendle Hill by the Ribble Valley. He is a professional artist without any formal art training, and is totally self-taught. Trevor's varied subject matter depicts nostalgic architectural and figurative scenes bordering on Romantic Impressionism. The characteristic economy of detail and the use of a limited palette awards his paintings with a sense of ambience. He is inspired by the post war English artists Edward Seago and Sir William Russel Flint, and over more recent years by the renowned artists Trevor Chamberlain, John Yardley and Ken Howard. Trevor Lingard's reputation is consolidating nationally, his paintings are exclusive, each one is unique, original and has the Distinctive Hallmark Style.

(Great painting of the Market.)
