Highlights of the season

hi all
As this Saturday's game is the last home fixture of the season we're compiling memories of the campaign to go in the programme for a montage of highlights of the season.

It doesn't have to be a specific match or result - it can be anything from a memorable moment on or off the pitch to something that has happened regularly this season that hasn't happened previously.

I'm hoping to get a few responses to this thread and get in touch with one or two people for some more details - we're looking at between 100 and 200 words and the more personal the tale the better.

If you want to dive straight in, or are viewing the thread as a guest just email your memory to [email protected]

As ever, thanks for your help
Dan

being in the away end of turf moor with 2 rovers supporters and 2 burnley supporters near the ultras .. and watching my nieces face .. she couldnt believe the noise and the flags they made .. especially as she'd only ever been to ewood park ...

my nephew saying (a burnley season ticket holder for the last 12 years .. hes 18 in a couple of weeks) he'd go and watch stanley again .. at home if burnley not playing .. after spuggie took him to the match on easter monday ..

Being banned from all the buttie vans on the ground for having the ordacity to complain about the price of Bovril.........oh and being reported to the Club for the same offence...............I kid you not

Listening in to the away commentators when things are not going their teams way........priceless lol

Ilyas and Peter ...............nuff said!

Re: Highlights of the season

Off the top of my head...

Lincoln petrol station, Alec Gilroy & Barrow fans at Norton Cane, Michael Symes' goal versus Fulham, Chris Turner's first goal, Stanley 5 - 3 Crewe, Crewe's 1 Fat Steward vs. 186 Stanley Loonies, Billy Kee's celebration at Barnet, the candlelight/pumpkin protest, Ilyas' carpark speech... being saved by the acest man in football from certain extinction...

...and many, many more. What a season.

every single Ultras display, they have brought more young fans into the ground this year with a mix of pride and passion. Football does not have to be about sitting down and having a pop at your players, indeed supporting should be the exact opposite.

So many to choose from, but one sticks out for me and it wasn't even on a match day...

Ilyas starting a thread on Nov 3rd, telling us that he's looking forward to the Salisbury match on the following Saturday.

An innocous comment on the face of it, but one that held a world of meaning.

I'm sure everyone on here knows why!

Sorry Cashy, but that was in summer 2008 - can't believe it was almost two years ago, yet so much has happened since that in some ways it seems a decade ago .
As others have said, there's been too many to pick out just one highlight from this season. The victory at Rochdale was bittersweet & I remember being in tears that day at the way our lads played when it could so easily have been their last game.
Then to the other extreme, reaching the fourth round of the FA cup & being drawn at home to a premiership side, what a feeling!
Definately too many to pick from but all in all - a cracking season - On Stanley On

Playing the now Europa finalists Fulham & popping a super goal in their net - so unlucky we were but deffo brought tears to my eyes when we scored that was the best feeling of the season!

Sitting by this computer at 10:30 on a weekday night waiting for word to come through from a court in London..Ilyas and Peter -what can anyone say that hasn't been said??... Reading of the fantastic support given game after game by the ULTRAS.
What wonderful, WONDERFUL people there are that make up the STANLEY FAMILY.
Snaps to you all.

Smile Re: Highlights of the season

Seeing as the brilliant British December weather and a wedding restricted me to just 1 game this season and made me miss one of the performances of the season away at Notts County, it would have to be walking up the steps of the stand at Elland Road and seeing our club crest on the big telly in the corner, then seein Stanley coming out of the tunnel. Proud moment - oh and also seeing all the familiar faces that night as well.

Oh and thanks to the Fox Soccer Channel, Symes' goal against Fulham - another game I got to see.

One game I didnt get to see in any way shape or form but had me going ballistic in my front room - when we went 2 up against Rochdale at home

Not to mention Khan our saviour..

Those were my highlights...
