I think it's more likely that Mitre only had two bog standard red strips which were the one we had previously and the stripes so there was no other option.

I'm sure that when I checked their website at the time that that was correct.

Crown Sports was founded and funded by a Stanley fan, David Something or other (possibly Nutter) who lived up Burnley Road way. He designed the strips and the deal was that Asda would sell them, I believe the deal fell through last minute over a few quid when David had hundreds of shirts ready to sell (2nd season). He also produced a magazine on behalf of the club

I don't believe the reason the deal fell through had anything to with either David 'Something' or Asda.

Lancs Dave said the above and it looked correct. I was one who thought the new park football shirt was poor, but after he explained I understood he did not have much to work with. It is a shame what happened more recently, Dave was helping out the club like many people I know have done over the last 40 years, some get no appreciation.

Me too. That's why I suggested Barnsley's. That shirt is like a modern version of Stanley 72-73. As much red as possible on the shirt. And White shorts! Of course!

Me neither, but I dont like to cast aspersions

I spoke to David around 10 years ago and got the whole story but I'm beggared if I can remember it properly. I started typing my original message thinking I could share some information at a relevant moment ... the couldnt remember David's name, or this, or that ... age catching up now
