Poor old HBC, trying their best,

Actually, being a bah, humbug type of guy, I wonder, do we really need such frippery when they always threaten at the first short fall such actions as:-
job's are at risk!
Maybe, just, maybe, sense should prevail and instead of the expense of such lights we should, (for example), keep cleaners on the streets?

Yes, O.K. it's only Less thinking, what difference would keeping our streets clean make towards pretending we want our kiddies to be delighted with a mediocre display?

One cleaner on the street versus little coloured lights? Could I please have the cleaner until we can afford the lights?

Re: Christmas lights

I absolutely agree with Less - the lights are a waste of our council tax.

How I view Less:-

grouch.jpg Oscar the Grouch.

No matter what HBC spend money on, some people can always find something better (in their opinion).

I like the Christmas Lights ...

Re: Christmas lights

I saw them being put up yesterday aft, after we'd been to the cinema

Think people would complain if they did or didn't put them up

I'm not fussed either way

Creep..........If Less went for council on that ticket......Failure.
What about fireworks to liven up the place?
What about prime time for the working population that no longer exists.
What about walking up any street in Lancashire without being in fear of some yobo taking a pot shot at you?
How would you as an individual like the council, on your behalf prepare for Christmas?
I know it is a cash cow for some, this year may be different.
Should we sit at home and be as we always seem to be, indifferent to what goes on around us?
Misery seems to be taking hold of our existance.
OK it rains a lot..........buy a pair of wellies.
Splash with the kid's you may enjoy it.

Re: Christmas lights

We have little Christmas trees up on the walls outside the shops, here in Lymm, but not until December. That's about it, as decorations go, except for the big Christmas tree on the cobbles next to Lymm Cross, again not until December. On Christmas Eve people gather round that tree and sing carols. It's lovely and old-fashioned and really captures the spirit of Christmas.

I hate the way Christmas gets earlier every year in the big towns. It's not "special" any more, just a spend-fest, and I avoid it all as much as I can.

How much?..............how many local traders would that subsidise in reduced rents?.....and they would probably put their own lights up.

Gosh, you came to that conclusion all on your own? Mummy must be proud!

Turns out we could buy lots of wellies to go play with the kids couldn't we?

Here have a Gold Star for effort, you deserve it!

Try not to slice anything minor when you cut it out and pin it to your chest.
