How do they do it?????

I was just waking up. It was a little before seven am......how much before seven, I can't tell you. Without my glasses, the numbers on the alarm clock are just a green blurry light.
I felt Pasha land on the bed......been out all night, she had. Now she was looking for somewhere to warm her bones, and I was the lucky one.
She tunnelled under the duvet.......ugh, not only was she cold she was wet as well......trying to dry herself on me and purring fit to burst.
I lifted my head to look at the faint cracks of light that were coming in under the blind......hmmm, not much light at all...decidedly grey.
I really wanted to turn over and go back to sleep....couldn't do that......was going over the road to help daughter take...

Last week I took out the dyson from under the stairs......planning to get Gizmo hairs off the best bit of Brussles(does anyone know why they call carpet that?).

I uncurled the cable and plugged the beast in.......I dragged it across the carpet in front of the fireplace and was horrified to find that it was leaving a wide black trail.......I wasn't taking muck off the carpet.......I was putting it ON. Not my original intention I can assure you.
I got down on my hands and knees to inspect the mucky trail. I turned the Dyson onto its back and checked the brushes.
They were full of Black Gunk....greasy black gunk at that.

Now, how had that got there?
I certainly hadn't vacuumed up anything vaguely suspicious.......I...

Dogs, Cats, Clarinets and Cornets

Posted 10-09-2008 at 21:42 by West Ender
Updated 10-09-2008 at 23:57 by West Ender
It all started at the weekend when our Jo rang to say she and John were going to Majorca for a week - the next day. She wouldn't usually have a problem but Peter, who would have been there looking after the dog and the 3 cats, had announced he was staying at his girlfriend's parents' house as they were going away and she didn't want to be alone.

Right, says Jo to me, the neighbour is going to come in several times a day and feed the cats but we don't know what to do with Travis, the dog. He's not up to date with injections so no kennel will take him and he can't go with Peter as Clare has a dog and Travis, a big soft, loving lump with all humans (except postmen whom he regards as cannon-fodder), hates other dogs.

Jen was asking......

Posted 10-09-2008 at 13:48 by Margaret Pilkington
After reading some of the back copies of the blog...my goodness you must've been bored!

Having said that I re-read my back copies......and I know what happened, but they still make me laugh sometimes and make me cry other times(must be getting soft in my old age).

Jen was asking what happened to my short story.....well, nothing.....I sent it off and never heard another peep.
There was only one prize and I didn't win it........so I guess my writing wasn't so crash hot after all.

I have let one or two folk read it(well, I know I posted it on here too) and the few who read it told me that they had enjoyed it...well, they would say that wouldn't they?
They aren't going to say 'Margaret, that...

Quick Thought

Posted 10-09-2008 at 03:57 by shakermaker
Nothing interesting, just a quick thought I had that I don't want to forget and I can't find any paper.

Do principles or absolute morals have any place or meaning at all? How can one set a principle or absolute moral when there is so much unknown with regards to our own existence? We may not be totall clueless about our past, but the past shows us that we are most certainly clueless about our future. We cannot possibly predict what state our race will be in in one hundred years time. Can we really set absolute morals when we aren't aware of all the constants? Surely, everything must be somewhat relative. Obviously there will be general guidelines that seem to be the right choice in most situations, but they cannot be used as absolute...
