When I first heard Britney had released a new song aimed at the paparazzi I was a bit worried that she'd done another thing to fuel their cravings for portraying her as a failure.
Fortunately for her she released what I think is a brilliantly worked song, much better than her 'come back' single 'gimme more'.
Focussing on the paparazzi's ability to contradict themselves for the sake of a story she outlines how they lack credibility.
She also asks the question of why people think she can't manage to be a good mother AND a career woman, though I believe this question is focussed at the people who follow the media and think of her as a bad mother. It is clearly a rhetorical question, and it shows she feels her job is just an ordinary job and she is just an ordinary mother trying to make a living for her children. Is she wrong for doing that?
As a single parent trying to bring up two little boys, I'm sure many single parents out there can agree that it is a difficult task. Many still will feel Britney is a bad mother though, yet how many of us can appreciate the idea of paparazzi following us around 24hrs a day to try catch us making a mistake?
Yes Britney recently broke down and locked her children in a room with her and she eventually had to be carted away, but do people really appreciate how she as a person feels? How many 'ordinary' mothers would do exactly the same as her in her situation?
I'm not a mother and can't say I can imagine myself properly in her situation, but I can appreciate how horrible it must feel to have your children taken away from you. How hopeless must she feel when the paparazzi only show her in the worst light and its used against her in court? How scary must it be that the media is taken as a serious source of information against you?
OK magazine did a REAL interview with Britney, and she didn't even have to say how scared she was. I feel scared for Britney, and I think its a shame that she doesn't seem to have anybody there for her. She must feel like she's cornered right now.
I hope she acts like the woman in her song and returns to being the confident young woman she used to be. I don't think I would like to see her lose her children, and I dont particularly want to see her break down like that again.
Britney sings 'Oh my god that Britney's shameless' but is it not more shameful that people sit in hope for bad things to happen to her because it makes 'good' news.
