well the bruisings gone down but ive managed to catch a cold - and ive decided a broken nose and sneezing does not go together.

Babysat tonight the first time i've babysat for a few years and it was brilliant. They went off to bed when told, i read them both a story and off to sleep and didnt wake up. Oh what a change from kidsitting my nephews - the stories of them little sods!!!! And thats putting it politely. Mind you my youngest nephew did a cracker in his exams - he got 1 A* in RE, a A in Maths and the rest of the 13 he took he got B's and C's. He did well. And i found out before him because he was on holiday with my brother and his daughter in cornwall - and my brother had lost the phone number my sister had given him! She gave him the phone number because she thought nephew would lose it!!! She should have given it my niece - she wouldnt have lost it!!! :D

Last saturday my sis came round she was having a get together at her house - a friend of hers and her hubby was over from austrailia. So went for tea and it was about 1.30am when i got home. Also brought home a goody bag - my tea on Sunday which was curry and was very nice to.

I havent done this for a while because i wasnt well .... and its took ages to get over this last one. So will tell you bout my weekend in Grangemouth another time.

Spugs coming down as well in the not so distant future for a few days.

Me, fella, daughter and her 2 best friends had such a great time, we didn't set off back until half six!

We started off on Albert Dock, there are many sights there, the there was the Tate Gallery! The girls laughed and pointed all the way round!!! Of course, that was hilarious cos they are all 9!!

Then we saw some speed boat racing!! Fantastic stuff!
We saw the Yellow Duck!
Went into the old house that the marine thing used to live in, sorry for being a bit ignorant but can't remember for the life in me what it was called:D

We also went into the Maritime Museum, which was great! Unfortunately due to time, we only got to see the Revenue & Customs bit! So will definitely be going back to visit that!

We then went to the ferry port called Pier Head
Boarded there and went to Seacombe!
This was great! We all got to stand right at the front of the Ferry! Loads of pics later

We went to Spaceport!
What a fantastic place!
When we 1st went in, you go into a Space Pod thingy and 1 of my daughters friends thought we actually went in Space!! That was soooo good, she thought that, right back until we took them home on Monday! Lol
So many hours, so many pics! Well worth a visit!

An Doctor Who!! Well!! Fantastic and so worth it!

The whole visit was a 1st for all of us so was excellent all round!
We will definitely be going back!

Parking is really good aswell, all day for £8-00!!
Some pics to follow!!

I know......I know, I am one of them......I just thought I would give the blog a rest and let someone else do the blogging......every time I looked there would be a whole row of my ginger faced cat....grinning out at me.
I felt as if I had 'taken over'.....I hope that doesn't sound like a big headed statement...it wasn't meant to be......so i had this thought 'I'll move over and give someone else a chance in the blogging world'
So come on where are you all?
I know it is holiday time...but you can't all have left the country!

What's happening in my world?

I am off with Ma again on Saturday.....Eastbourne for five days.
I don't know if I am looking forward to it or not....... a bank holiday down there will be....erm interesting.
Ma is looking forward to it and some of her enthusiasm is bound to rub off on me.

The tinlids have finished at Pre-school for the summer hols..... though they didn't finish until last week.
Tiddler goes to 'proper' school in September(I'm going to have to stop calling him tiddler - he's 3ft 7in....not exactly a tiddler is he?)
He can't wait, and is desperate to learn to read......he can recognise quite a number of words and he can write his name......but he really wants to be able to read story books.

Miss bossy knickers will be going back to pre-school in September....I'm not sure how she will take it when she realises that her brother won't be going back with her.

Talking of Miss Bossy Knickers...we have been walking down to pre-school recently.....going through the park......in the wet mornings we have been on the Snail rescue trail.....this is where we rescue snails that look as if they might get walked on.....and it isn't because I like snails, it is more to do with the fact that I can't bear to hear them crunch underfoot.
Some of the very tiny snails were prodded into the grass by the tip of my umbrella....this made tiddler call the game......The World of Snail Golf....don't ask me how he came up with this name...it isn't anything either daughter or I have said.....it makes me wonder what goes on in the little lads head???
Coming home we usually walked up by the side of the Park and through what both the tinlids named 'The secret way'......it isn't really secret, just a little used path that takes you up Hygiene.....now during this very wet month the puddles along this un-made road have been humungous....almost big enough to swim in(OK, maybe I stretched the truth a bit there)...anyway one of the days when we were walking home, Miss Bossy Knickers decided to try and straddle a very large puddle.....on realising that her little legs were in no way up to the job, she tried to correct her balance and fell with a very large 'splat' face down into the muddy water.......it was just like something off 'You've Been Framed'......we hauled her, dripping wet out of the puddle and she cried all the way home....while we, miserable adults that we are, tried desperately(but in vain) to stifle our giggles.

I have just completed the ascent on Mount Ironing.
Each time I conquer this mountain, I tell myself that I will tackle the chore while it is just a gentle slope.
Do I ever listen to myself?
Well, what do you think?

Went into gamestation and bought a new game "Testdrive-unlimited" for the ps2. WOW, what a GAME! Very similar to need for speed, only without the modding. BUT, the cars are amazing! You can get supercars like the lambo gallardo, ferrari's, noble, mercedes, Jaguar...loads of em. And, you can buy classic cars going allll the way back to the 70's and 80's. Old jags, lotus...just amazing cars! Anyway, played that for ages.
Sunday, pretty much the same...Watched the olympics and cheered on the Brits in the pool. YAY, two GB's in the final of the 400m womens freestyle. The ladies gymnastics, yet again were a disapointment. Beth Tweddle in the final, but no chance for gold i think.

In all....was a lovely weekend cos i didnt dooooo anything. Just sat and chilled.
Shame i'm now back here on monday doing the usual 9-5, but hey...5 more days till the weekend!!!

( Oh, just before i sign off one more thing... WHY ISNT THE OFFICIAL OLYMPICS GAME AVAILABLE FOR THE PS2??? Very disapointing lol )

So...what have you lot been doing this weekend?

I'd broken my glasses big style - they were minus a lens - and i didnt know where it was. Well i found it in my bag which i had with me yesterday ....... but all scratched so i had to get a new pair.

Rang up specsavers today - needed eyes testing - seeing as they havent been tested for 4 years ..... so was tested - they've changed a bit not much but still changed and got 2 pairs instead of 1 - just in case for next time and they were also ready in an hour.

Well spug came down the following day after the weekend hiking round marl pits. I rang him to see where he was when i woke up ..... he was just leaving blackburn when i decided to get up!!! :D Then it was run round and tidy up a bit so it was a bit tidier than it was when i dumped everything and left it yesterday. Sis had took her sleeping bag and chair home with her. I just had the clothes that i had on that weekend and slept in ..... they probably could walk on their own to the washer but i gave em a helping hand!!! lol

Anyway we went to bury twice when he was down ....... first time was for a looksee and the second time was for black peas but they didnt have any ........ so he had to go home without them.

For my birthday he bought me a necklace with a ruby heart on it and a pair of earrings. All week i'd been bugging him asking him what he'd bought me and checking his jacket couldnt find it - turns out it had been in his jeans pocket all week!!! Went to Winfields seeing as he hadnt been there for ages and i walked out of there with a new jacket and a new jumper, he walked out with a new jacket.

Sis had a party down at her house on the saturday and we went and we ended up playing cards - my bro in law refused to play - he said its going to be one of the 'coven' which will win!!!! He said playing cards in this family means the rules are made up as you go along ........... i won - when it came down to the last 3 he said - see its the coven!!! Me and my 2 sisters were the last 3!!!!:p

Spug also bought me 3 bunches of Red Roses on the saturday (my birthday was friday) and they looked lovely. The fellas in my family all ganged up on him for that .... so he said they only cost £7 for all 3!!!!:D

Going home he had fun .......... was an interesting journey he said on the phone that night. I left him in Preston and his train home was after mine home, his was running late. He didnt get a seat until oxenholme, everyone had piled on that one instead of the next one that was running on time.

I didnt let him mow the garden ........ it had been done the week before.

Friday went shopping ended up getting a pile of sweeties for the weekend and then got a lift from my nephew to winfields and got a pair of waterproof trousers for the weekend and a few other things. It was horrible wasnt it weather wise.

What i was doing was being part of the Rossendale Online forums team for the Relay for Life for Cancer Research. It was being held at Marl Pits in Rawtenstall and walking round the track for 24 hours in a relay we had to keep at least one person on the track at all times.

Anyway my sister lent me a sleeping bag and brought it up on friday night and i asked if i could borrow one of her foldup chairs. She said yes and it would be in the car on sat morning.

Well i finally got there about 10.30am... i dont do mornings which was a shock to the system and it was raining.... and the race track we were supposed to be walking round was like a swimming pool anyway sis dropped me off and wished me luck and left me to it. Said she'd come and pick me up on sunday at 11.30. Well it rained, the race track was like a mudbath, at one stage they cordoned some of it off because it was unwalkable, rossendale online got asked to do the bbq - i didnt go nowhere near it - it was safer!!!! :D There was a candlelight service about 10pm and one of the rossendale onliners had his mobile on him and at the end of the service we had a minutes silence to remember people who had cancer, people who had recovered and people who had died from cancer, and just as everyone fell silent someone sent him a message ..... not a normal beep beep either - it was yoda with 'message from the dark side' :D It was funny and no one bothered either. Then we all walked round the track with the candles lit ....... a lot of them were still alight in the morning. It was touching that. I got some kip about 2hrs - then went and got the sunday papers!!! I was sopping wet through. Was glad to get home. Sis picked me up at 11.30, was home for 11.45 and was in bed for 12.05. Was woken up by a clap of thunder about 3.30 rolled over and went back to sleep and woke up at 6.30. I had to get up then otherwise i wouldnt have slept that night!!! :D

So that was that weekend ......... i've been busy ......... spugs been down, i've been ill, i've been up there, had my birthday so will catch up on the blog ............ later!!!!

By the way i raised £215 for the Relay for Cancer. It was hard work but fun ....... and we been asked if we are doing it next year!!!:D Course we said yeah!!!! :p

Haven't put Ma off.
We had only just been back 24 hours...or perhaps even less and she was ringing me up to ask if I could do a Saturday until Wednesday break on the 23rd of August.

I asked her what happened to her dis-chuffment with the long trip back from Torquay.......'Oh, I'm over that now' she replied....'Anyway with Robinsons, the journey never seems as long'

So we'll be off to The Majestic at Eastbourne.

Back to this holiday.
We slept really well......Ma certainly did....though I was tired it took me quite a while to drop off to sleep......I think maybe I was too warm......I crept out of bed and opened the window just a touch......and the breeze wafted over my head....after that i knew nothing until 7am.
I rose and was just about to have a shower....ah, no perhaps not...seeing as there was only a bath.
Ma was still sleeping......or she was doing a good impression of sleeping.
I just had a good wash down at the sink...and postponed the bath for our return from the day excursion. I knew that I was going to get pretty hot and erm...unwholesome, pushing Ma around the city of Plymouth.
But before that there was a hearty breakfast to be consumed.
When I had finished my ablutions Ma was up and getting her toiletries together for her trip to the bathroom.
I asked if she wanted any help to be pushed into the bath......I can't tell you what her answer was...decency forbids:p.

Soon we were both ready......I made our beds and tidied the room up.....not that we are that messy, but I bagged the rubbish and wiped round the sink.
I know they pay folk to do this, but it is a habit I can't get out of.

We could smell the bacon cooking and it was really sharpening Ma's appetite.
We ambled downstairs to breakfast at about 8.20.....we thought we may have to wait, but the dining room was open.....there was fresh tea and coffee being placed on all of the tables....and warm thick toast......the marmalade wasn't in those little plastic single serve portions.....it was in little stainless steel dishes.
We seated ourselves and I poured Ma her coffee, while she helped herself to the fresh warm toast...she commented that it was thick bread....usually hotels toast thin slices......I still eat it but I prefer thick sliced bread...wholemeal if I'm being really picky!

Gary and Gill came down, closely followed by Ida......they asked if we had stayed at the table all night.
I told them that ma's favourite meal was breakfast....and she was always sharp off the mark once she smelled the bacon.
We asked how they had slept.....poorly came the response....they were used to a softer mattress.
They sat down and the tea and coffee went around the table, as did the toast.....while we were chomping on the toast the young waitress came to take our breakfast orders.
I have the same every day....grapefruit, then a full English minus sausage.
Ma ordered her Bacon and Eggs and fried bread....'bu88er the cholesterol' she said...'I'm on holiday'

We talked about the day ahead.......Gary and Gill hadn't been to Plymouth before so I gave them directions to get to the Gin distillery and the Pannier market....and the Hoe.
We scoffed our delicious breakfast and there was just time to go back to the room and clean the egg residue off my teeth before we got back on the coach that had given us square BTMs for some more of the same.

The ride to Plymouth was just about an hour....and Dave our Driver dropped us off at the bus station.
I hadn't been to this part of the city before, but if I could see a particular landmark I felt sure I would be able to navigate to the part that I knew best.....the landmark is a square tower with a green roof....I think it may have been a church at some point in its life.
Anyway I asked ma to take in the surroundings just in case(though it hasn't happened yet) I got us hopelessly lost.

It was quite a pull up to the part of the city where the shops are, but once there I knew my way about.
I had taken my camera, but thought that unless we managed to get over to the Barbican area I would not be using it.(I was right...i toted it all over the city and didn't take a single pic)
We spent all our time browsing the shops, the charity shops and the market.......Ma bought some pork scratchings..proper ones cooked by the butcher.......We went into the Drakes Centre, and worshipped at the church of Primark....Ma bought herself a couple of very pretty bras......she bought a couple while we were in Eastbourne and tells me that they fit better than some she bought that were £20 each...so she bought another couple 'to see her on' was how she put it(whatever that means).
I whizzed her past Thorntons...though she begged me to take her in......'just to look'.

It was pretty close to lunchtime so we sought out a hostelry where we might get a bite of lunch.

I think the place was called The Hogs Breath'...it was cheap and cheerful......I went and ordered a shandy for Ma and a half of lager for me.......I could have drunk a pint but don't like to see ladies drinking out of pint glasses...and I didn't really want to be caught drunk in charge of a wheeled vehicle.

I had parked Ma at a table close to some male pensioners.....by the time I went back she was exchanging ribald banter with them all...and they were laughing uproariously.
Ma was having her usual......baked spud with cheese and coleslaw......I chose a ploughmans lunch.....we were gob struck when the food arrived.....the spud and its filling was enough to feed a family of four...and there was a huge salad garnish.
All that was missing from my ploughmans was the horse.
The pensioners on the next table offered to come over and give us a helping hand with the food if we needed it.
Both of us needed another drink to wash down all that grub.
Once we had eaten we both felt absolutely stuffed...and I had to leave some of mine.
Ma, the hero...well all she left was the red onion and the skin off the spud.
We had about an hour to kill before we were due back to the coach.
I parked ma in the shade and I went off to have a look in the GAME shop.......on the back of the counter was a Wii Fit.
I said to the assistant 'don't tell me that is the wii fit you have there'

'It is indeed' he said......and lifted it onto the front counter.
I was just weighing up whether the coach driver would balk at me taking something like that back with me.
I asked the assistant if it was heavy.
'Fairly heavy' he said.
I explained that we were on holiday and that it was a very long trip back to Lancashire.
Just as I was telling him this, a young woman rushed into the shop looking all hot and bothered and said to the other assistant 'I will have that last wii fit'......he looked over to the young man who was talking to me.....and the young man said it looked like it was about to be sold.
I thought that the young woman would cry...she looked so dejected.
I told the assistant to let the lady have the Wii Fit and I would just hope I could get one when I got back home.
The lady thanked me and said she hoped I would too.
When I was leaving the shop she told me it was a birthday present for her son who had been seriously ill.....it was a birthday they thought he wouldn't see...and it was to help him get his motivation and his movement back......so I felt that I had done the right thing.
I went back and found Ma and told her the story...she said she was touched and perhaps I would be able to get one of these games in Exeter....I told her it didn't matter....I'd get one back home.
We ambled past another branch of Thorntons...but this time I did take Ma inside...but the 'look' turned into a buying visit.
Ma bought a variety of goodies...strictly forbidden to her, but she tells me that what she bought will last her until christmas:D.

It was time to make our way back to the bus station.
I asked Ma to tell me which way we had come...she couldn't remember......so it was a good job I had taken notice.
We arrived abck at the coach with about 10 minutes to spare.
We had thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the city.
I didn't get down to the Barbican and the lovely cake shop, or the distillery(I was going to buy himself a large bottle of Plymouth Gin)....it would have been OK going down the hill, but I really couldn't face the push back up the hill.....because it was hot, hot, hot.

We arrived back at the hotel by 4.30......and I DID need that bath, believe me.

Gizmo keeps telling me i promised to tell you about the holiday....and that I haven't done.......who's a nawdy girl then?
Well, I guess that'd have to be ME........with Maltesers, you have to find a new way to be naughty....and I'm not showing my bra to anyone:eek:.

Before we went away I asked Ma what the hotel was called....she, daft old bird that she is couldn't remember.
I said 'Look on the tickets'
'Oh never thought of that' says she!

Came back a couple of minutes later and told me it was The Burlington.
I got onto the internet and looked at where it was....and there were some reviews too.

It looked like the hotel was out of Torquay and on the road up to Babbacombe......well, it is more a goat walk really.......I could feel my calf muscles glowing at the thought of it.
The reviews were not very complimentary, but I didn't tell Ma this.

We were over at Burnley bus station by 7.30...though our coach wasn't due to pick us up until 7.50.
Ma has a thing about being early......she hates to be late.
We waited and we waited and we waited.
I got out the documents to see if there was a number to ring in the event of the coach not turning up....nope, couldn't see anything.......I was just scratching my head and about to ring the main office in Scotland when the coach came round the corner...it was nearly half past eight....the chap apologised he had had to fill up with diesel and then got stuck in traffic.
We were on the back row...next to the lavvy...at Ma's request.
We were told that we could spread out as the coach wasn't full......there was plenty of leg room anyway.
For the next three hours we were given a tour round the industrial towns of the North West......Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, Manchester and Stockport....we hadn't left the North and we had been on the road for three hours.
Now, we are both used to coach tours...but our usual coach operator doesn't do this trundling round these towns......they have magical 'feeder' buses...they pick up in all these places and then we all embark on the coach for resort at the Lymm interchange and we are on our way.
Fortunately Ma and I are quite laid back and it didn't bother us too much going....but it really got on Ma's wick coming back.
Ma kept saying it was a good job it was me with her and not Debbie......she would have been going mad.

The journey down was quite pleasant once we got under way properly...it was lovely and sunny.....but the air con in the coach was very good at keeping us cool.
Everyone on the coach was very friendly, and chatting amiably.
I had packed a coolbag with lovely wholemeal sandwiches.....roast chicken and bacon with mayo and black pepper dressing......some little cherry tomatoes......grapes and cherries for sweetness....and plenty of drinks and a bottle of ice....which slowly turns to iced water as we travel......there were crisps and a couple of choccy biccies too just in case Ma went hypo.
We stopped at Warwick and ma stayed on the coach with her butties...I got off and got a paper and a milk shake which Ma said she fancied.
Ma kept on wondering what it would be for the evening meal....even though she had only just eaten......she loves the anticipation of the food being cooked for her.
She didn't have too long to wait because the people at the hotel phoned the driver and asked him to ask us our choices for the evening meal......Ma chose Beef Casserole.......I chose Vegetable Risotto.
Ma was smacking her lips at the thought of dinner, for the rest of the way down there.
We didn't get to the hotel until 6pm....and dinner was at 6.30.......Our room was on the ground floor.....at the back of the hotel.....it was clean and the beds were comfortable.......we overlooked the garden and a patio.
It bore no resemblance to the reviews I had seen on the internet......the bathroom only had a bath, but I could live with that...the towels were soft and fluffy and there were tea and coffee making facilities.
The beds...(there were two single and a double) had good pillows(not communion wafers) and lovely duvets.....I always look inside the duvet covers.....I don't like to see grey stained duvets...these looked like new.

We only had time for a very quick lick and a promise before it was time to go down to Dinner.

Yes......I know I said we were on the ground floor, but the dining room was down a flight of stairs.
The risotto wasn't really risotto, but vegetable rice, but it was served with a lovely salad and i also got a dish of cooked veggies too....I was really going to get my five a day, that day.
Ma said that the casserole was delicious, but there was far too much for her to eat.
It was a good job that we were on a table with Gary, Gill and Gills' mother Ida.
Gary was a big strapping lad(no, not fat...solid and muscular) and he was more than happy to help Ma out with her dilemma.
We hit it off straight away with our meal mates.....not like us at all(!)

Once dinner was over we both went upstairs to the room.......Ma lay down on the bed and in just a few short moments her sonorous breathing told me she was asleep.
I read and listened to my music for a while and then I decided that I should get some kip as we had a busy day ahead of us tomorow.

I was glad to see Mum come home......she came huffing and puffing in out of the taxi........ignored me completely....and went straight to the kettle to make a 'good brew'.

I think she had a good time....and I know that the weather was very good for them.......in fact she is just a bit brown.......she says it was walking about pushing the chair.
She might tell you all about it.....soon.

I know she was glued to the screen a couple of nights playing some kind of game or other....and while I may not have understood the words she was using....I'm pretty sure they weren't good words....they never are when they are said through gritted teeth....well, that's my experience of life anyway.

Well, it is time I went out and pee'd on the flags......I'll love you and leave you....Ta-ra.

We have been bacK almost 2 weeks and I haven't written a word.......I have no excuses....well other than Derekgas beating me at Add Like Mad.......and it being the only thing I can win at, made me absolutely sure I had to get my crown back....and gave myself 'sega neck'....this is a condition that I used to suffer from regularly when we had a Sega mega-drive.......daughter could always beat me and I used to sit there trying to beat her score(unsuccessfully, I might add) until the muscles in my neck seized up.

Getting back that crown was mighty tedious I tell you....and I'm not sure I want to do it all again.

On the game front......while I was away we went on a day trip to Plymouth.......I had intended to go and get a bottle of Plymouth Gin direct from the distillery...for himself.
But the coach dropped us off quite a long way from the Barbican.....it was a hot, hot day and pushing Ma down the hill would have been a breeze, but pushing her back up...well, no I can't say I relished that so much.....so I decided himslef could whistle for his gin, and didn't go to theat part of the city....instead, I wandered into the local branch of Game......there at the back of the counter was the Wii Fit.
I said to the young man behind the counter
'Don't tell me that is an actual Wii Fit'

'it is indeed, but it is the last one'

He placed it on the counter in front of me.......I could have it...it could be mine!
I looked at it and asked just how heavy it was.
'Quite heavy' was the response....just as he said this a youngish woman came rushing into the shop, all red and flustered and said 'I'll have that last Wii Fit'......
The assistant said I was just about to buy it.
I thought that the lady was going to cry.......'Oh.....NO, I should have bought it when I was in here before' she said.

I told the assistant to let her have it as I wasn't sure how the coach driver would be with me taking something like that back with me.......I told him that we had to travel all the way back to Lancashire.

The lady was delighted that she was going to get what she wanted......and as she was paying she told me that it was to be a birthday present for her young son who had just recovered from a serious illness....and it was to help him get moving and fit again.

So I felt that I had done the right thing, but hoped that my Karma would be rewarded with being able to get one for myself when I got back home.
Since getting back I have trawled the shops, locally and in Manchester and had absolutely no joy at all.
I had resigned myself to not getting one of these Wii Fit games.......but yesterday I went into the Game in Accrington, just as they had a delivery......so I now have a Wii Fit.

I set it up yesterday and you have to put your age and your height into the memory.
I did this and then I switched on the balance board.
It is really clever and tells you when you can get on....so once I had put my details in and switched on and waited for the prompt...it told me to get on and stand with my feet an equal distance apart....being a good kid I did exactly as I was told.
As I stepped on it said 'Ouch'(it really did)......then it weighed me.......then it calculated my body mass index and told me that I am old and fat and that there isn't much going for me.
I then did some very basic exercises so that it could calculate my Wii Fit age.........this came out at 67......so I paid all this money for an inanimate object that insults me.
I could have saved the money and let hubby do that for me:D
