Day of reckoning...
So here were are the day I would find out if I had got the job..
I was in work early due to dropping my youngest son at his work experience in church thanks to sparkologist who sorted out the placement
Both my Managers came in, nothing was said...waited an hour, checked their desks and they were both missing... checked their electronic diaries and they were both in a meeting with the Director of Housing
Waited as long as I could but had my first visit booked for 10.30am so unfortunately had to leave...ironically today was going to be a very busy day to the extent I knew I wouldn't get back to the office until about 4pm.
Well my work phone kept ringing or beeping with texts from people asking if I had heard anything...but I knew that either way they would want to tell me face to face so knew I wouldn't know at the earliest until I got back to the office.
It proved to be an eventful day and luckily it passed in a whirl and I arrived back at 3.50pm.
Made it known that I was back
and proceeded to update my case files.
Finally I looked up to my computer about 4.30pm and there was an email asking for me to meet them in one of the interview rooms now (oops they had sent it at least 5 mins before, ha ha)
So off I toddled, got sat down, suprisingly calm to be honest....... and ......
I didn't get it
They were great and said out of the 8 people they interviewed they would've happily given it to 6 of them, my test was perfect, almost like I had the answers in front of me and I had got down to the final two... the only way they could separate us was by going through each answer we gave with a fine toothcomb and they couldn't fault any of my answers but felt the other girl just edged it on a couple of them.
We talked for a little more and joked about me getting the voodoo dolls out that evening
then funnily enough, I think because they felt so bad about me not getting it, talked about my current role and how they would like me to look at redeveloping it and to make any changes that I felt necessary as they trusted my judgement.
Now its funny but I am not that disappointed ...honest ...and that is for a couple of reasons ...
1. It wasn't for anymore money but would have been a new challenge (but have been handed a mini challenge anyway)
2. The development of the role may have been a bit much, especially with so much going on away from work at the mo!
3. I really do believe that everything happens for a reason and something even better will come my way

Aww shame about the job, but at least they are taking note of what you do and are willing to look into the role you are currently in and as you said something better could come along
Good Luck in the future |

I think that you have the right attitude, something better will probably come along, just make sure that you are in the right position to grab it.

sorry to hear that you didn't get the job, but if it wasn't for more money, and you were only going to get a 'limited' challenge out of it...then you haven't exactly lost anything.
I once knew of someone who went for a job not disimilar (inasmuch as it wouldn't have made much difference to her life materially, but maybe would have socially)...she didn't get the job and was really miffed about it...felt she had lost 'face' and all that....what she didn't know was that those who interviewed her knew of a job that was coming up in the future, which was better for her finanacially and had more kudos attached.......so she applied for that and got it....the ironic thing is, the person who got the job that she had originally applied for couldn't hack it and left after 3 months. No Lesley....nothing lost......the cosmos has something better for you. |

Thanks for your kind comments, and know what you mean about the saving face Marg. Many people expected me to walk this job as it is pretty similar to what I do now but the more I have talked to people (as keep being asked if I got the job) the more I realise it probably wasn't the time for me.

Their loss.
The perfect position for your many talents will just appear out of the blue one day, when you least expect it. |
