Strange....

Posted 02-09-2005 at 23:05 by harwood red

I received a letter today, the envelope was hand written but the letter inside was typed. Thought I would share it with you and get your thoughts on what I should do next!!.................

Dear Lesley

I am writing to let you know that sadly our mother, Deidre died earlier this month. She had been ill since February this year and she died peacefully at home with her three sons at her bedside on 4th August.

She got a good send off at her funeral and her ashes are placed with Dads at St Marys Church, Knaresborough.

I know she enjoyed receiving cards from you over the years and we would like to thank you for keeping in touch with her.

Yours Sincerely,

John McLoughlin

Lovely letter you may be thinking, yes thats what I thought too. Strange thing is I can't for the life of me think who Deidre could be!!! Now part of me thinks it must be someone from my childhood, cos if she's buried in Knaresborough that is right next door to Harrogate. But then how did the son get my current address. Maybe I had sent her something with my address on and it was found when they were going through her things. It can't have been my mum otherwise she would have told me that this person had died. So the quandry I'm in is do I reply (as he has left his address in the letter) asking for more details on deidre tactfully of course or do I just leave it and allow myself to go slowly mad with curiosity?????

Whatever the answer, isn't it nice that someone has took the time to send out a letter to thank you.

Oooh, for once in my life I'm stuck for what to say/do. I think if it was me I would write back expressing condolensces at their loss, but say no more than that...
