weird times

Posted 09-04-2006 at 14:27 by harwood red
I thought I just better make an entry as it seems to have been ages since I've done one. It has been a very strange past couple of weeks and for personal reasons I'm not going to go into it on here! sorry...

One thing that did happen was my eldest lad managed to fall out of bed (standard height bed), whack his elbow on the metal frame and then land on it. so 2 sundays ago at midnight I found myself in BRI casualty!! They said it was a suspected fractured elbow and plastered his arm up from his armpit to his hand!!! we went back last Monday to the trauma clinic for it to be checked, they removed the pot and because he was still in obvious pain they decided to be safe and plastered it again!!!

We are going again...

To strike or not to strike

Posted 24-03-2006 at 00:27 by harwood red
Well next tuesday the majority of people at my work are going on strike because of proposed changes to the pension scheme. It's an LCC pension and the government are trying to make some radical changes to it, so basically we will all be a lot worse off!!

Now this is where my quandry comes in. I am not a member of the union so was not balloted about the strike action. And not being a member means I don't have the strike option open to me! I wish that someone would make that more clear to alot of union members at work. I have had alot of snidey remarks levelled at me over the past week and it has really ground me down. Non union members do have the option to take leave, paid or unpaid and although I hadn't commented on what I was...

Yippee

Posted 17-03-2006 at 00:43 by harwood red
I finished work at lunchtime today and not back till Monday now. and a hectic few days coming up too.

Straight from work I went to change a faulty lamp shade that I have been meaning to sort out for weeks. It's weird how something so simple is so satisfying, crossing off something that has been on your to do list for so long. Then I went and did a bit of retail therapy, not my favourite pastime but was looking for something new and funny how I prob bought every other type of clothing except for what I was looking for which is a new going out top!! I bought some trousers for work, a few casual tops, knickers, bra, some costume jewellery and some school shirts for the lads but no going out top!!!

I then rushed home...

memories of lost childhood in the snow

Posted 14-03-2006 at 00:49 by harwood red
Thanks Marg for bringing back some wonderful memories of childhoods in the snow.

As I have mentioned before I grew up in a big 3 storey house which was over our newsagents shop. Out front was a massive pavement probably 3 times as wide as a normal one. I remember one year my brother and I building an igloo, yes a real igloo. Now who can say we get enough snow to do that. We spent ages compacting the snow into brick like structures and working out how we would get it to curve for the ceiling like the eskimo's do..... but we did it. It was our snow den and we were very protective of it too

Is it just me or did the snow seem to last so much longer years ago, cos that igloo was around for well over a week before...

Much better

Posted 05-03-2006 at 23:20 by harwood red
Well a week has passed and I feel miles better, thank you all for your kind comments.

Didn't have the grand sunday day out that I planned due to my kids sleeping out last night... so of course I went out for a couple of drinks.. ok, ok so it was a few more than a couple

Not much to report at mo but thought I would just get another entry in as I noticed the views of my blog are reaching the 1000 mark so a new entry can only help it get there a little bit quicker
