Yesterday I was telling you briefly how accyweb came into being, I think it only fair to let you know how the meets actually got started, I found a thread about it and will post it lower down.

Sometime around September-ish 2003 Mother hen (Mez) arrived on site and it changed for ever. Being the sort of person always ready for an excuse to drink it was suggested that we have a Christmas party, this was duly arranged (By Mick) and held in the Oak Tree on Blackburn Road, Benipete was the Landlord back then and he welcomed us to his pub, his Daughter Vicky did the eats.
(The evening so traumatised the pair of them that they were reluctant to go on line and become members until earlier this year).

This is a complex question for me, & rather than take up a great deal of space within the thread I thought I would reply in a blog so that those that want to read can and those that don't....

Firstly I think a little History, accyweb started around March 2003, it was when Roy and several other of his workmates were working for a while in Moscow, Broadband wasn't in general use at the time and everyone had very expensive dial up modems.

Roy decided as he was an ex-pat he would start a web site so that he and his friends could keep in touch with home.

He was very lucky because his friends were willing to help get it up and running and become moderators.
