A good old girly day.

I had to go to Manchester today to pick up a pan.......that's right, a pan!!!!! Since Sparks moved in I have turned into a domestic goddess. Ok, the bit about being a domestic goddess is a fib. I still can't abide cleaning up but I have had a bit of success in the cookery department.

People who have read my blog know that I use my oven for storage and the only thing that I have successfully made in the kitchen is a mess or a fire. In the last few months I have learned how to cook a bit and now make a mean Ocean Pie. I have found that the only pans which even I can't stick anything to are the Anolon pans but these are quite expensive.

On Saturday, we went to the Printworks at Manchester to see a film. Before going to the pics, we found an Anolon pan in Kendals, it was in the sale and was just what we were looking for, so we bought it. It is rather big and I didn't want to take it to the flicks, so we arranged for me to pick it up today.

I phoned Grego last night to wish her a happy New Year and asked her if she fancied a shopping trip to Manchester today so that I could pick up the pan and get my watch fixed. A couple of hours later she phoned back and asked if it would be alright if the little princess came too.

So there we were, 3 girlies on the bus to Manchester. We had to sit on the top deck so that princess could look out of the window. She was really excited all the way there and kept pointing things out and saying that they have one of those in England too. We did explain that we were still in England but she was having none of it......

We went into Next Homewares so that Grego could pick some bedding up that she'd seen. Ellie was looking at all the little girly bedroom set-ups, opening all of the wardrobes and drawers, examining cushions and duvets like an expert (she's 5). We then started looking around a few clothes and shoe shops which she found a bit boring. She relished going up and down the escalators though, you forget what used to excite you as a child, the top deck of a bus, a ride on an escalator or in a lift. She was in her element. You see, she had some money that her dad had given her for a treat and it was burning a hole in her pocket. She wanted a real handbag, she has loads of little bags but no real ones apparrently...

We took her to the Disney Store where she bought her real handbag and some slippers, took her purchases to the till and paid the lady herself. There was no change, she has inherited the family ability to spend every penny on bags and footwear. We then went for lunch and Ellie insisted on an ice cream. She was shivering whilst eating it but said that it was nothing to do with the ice cream and that it was the weather.

I managed to get my watch mended and also remembered to collect the pan before getting the bus home, top deck again. She chattered all the way home and was planning to show her dad her new bag and slippers. She'll sleep well tonight, I bet she's knackered, I know I am...
