Gardening Leave.

I am literally on gardening leave now.....
Every nice day in the last week, I have pottered about in the garden. Trimming bits off bushes, pulling out the odd weed, sweeping paths and planting my veggies in small pots to get them going. I'm back at work this week so felt the need to get moving again. I haven't done anything too strenuous though, I mean, I haven't tackled cleaning out the shed yet..... That'll be a mammoth task when I get around to it..
I do love the garden though, it's generally quiet out there. The railway runs along the back of our house, but it is down a gulley which muffles the sound of the trains somewhat. Our old house had the railway running beside it, but it was up on the embankment. The trains sounded louder when they were above us.
We often get wild rabbits in the garden, they come in and nibble on the edges of the lawn. There's a good array of birds visiting our feeders. Very early in the morning we may see a fox or two. We've had a hedgehog cuddling up to our outside doormat and numerous frogs too. The frogs usually jump out when I'm weeding the garden. They give me such a start, the garden isn't the only thing weed in.....
The lady who used to live here said that she once saw a deer!!! I haven't seen any of those yet but I remain hopeful.
Over the last few weeks, I have had a lot of pleasure from the garden. I have spent countless hours watching the birds out of the window and the daily aerial battle that goes on around the feeders. The rabbit always make me smile, and I always keep an eye out for the foxes whilst the rabbit feeds. Now that I'm well on the mend, I can actually get out there and enjoy it.
I've never had a garden before, and of course, our move here is a different story for a different day but all in all, gardening leave is suiting me.........
Except for the thought of bottoming that shed.
