Little bits of this and that...... but none of the other!
Don't ask stupid questions!

My friend has not been very well.
I only found out that she had not been well because she phoned to tell me that she hadn't really forgotten my birthday, but hadn't felt well enough to come round and bring my card......she has vertigo.....now that doesn't sound like a life threatening thing does it...well, that is unless you try to drive when you have it.....
.
I told M not to worry about my blooming birthday....goodness knows there will be another one here before I know it.
It's like that once you get past a certain age, isn't it?
Anyway the upshot was, I said I would go round. We could have a natter and she could tell me all about the exotic time she didn't have in Mauritius....which is where she acquired the said vertigo...five days into a three week holiday...and spent time in a foreign hospital. I just KNOW she would have loved that! (not)
I did say that I would ring in advance to make sure she was receiving visitors.
So this morning I gave her a call, to find out if she would be in for visitors this afternoon.
'No' she was going to be taken to have her hair done......so we arranged to meet up on Wednesday instead.
This left me with an afternoon to fill.
I could have come on here and played in the arcade.
I could have given myself some Tennis lessons on the Wii machine.
I could have sat and read a book, watched a video.....done the crossword, tackled ironing hill in the back bedroom.....but on reflection I decided that the living room carpet looked a bit erm........'grubby' I suppose is the best word....and the carpet in the lobby puts me to shame.
Why does no-one seem to wipe their feet anymore? I have a good stout door mat that no-one except me seems to use.
So I decided to steam clean the living room carpet, and while I was at it give the lobby carpet a once over.
Hubby was out doing his pensioner visiting.
Well, to be honest these jobs are best tackled when the man of the house is out of the way......I really do not like being supervised...and being told I have missed a bit..
I gave both carpets a good going over with the dyson first....essential for half decent results.......then I sprayed some detergent(non foaming) over the places that needed extra oomph....then I went up to the landing cupboard and untangled all the bits that go to make up my steam cleaner...lumbered downstairs with it and filled the tank and waited for it to come up to pressure.
I had been working for a good hour and a half....and sweating like the proverbial.....in fact my hair was in little tendrils, soaked with the sweat of my labours.....little rivulets of perspiration were running betweem my mammaries and my bum crack (OK...TMI).....my face was the colour of boiled beetroot and I just had to sit down on the bottom step of the stairs for a moment.........just at that moment hubby walked in.......and asked me 'What's wrong?'
I don't think I can tell you what my reply was...it wasn't exactly rude, but it wasn't polite either.
Why do our other halves have to ask such stupid questions?
Anyway the living room carpet looks much better......the lobby is going to need another do.......I kind of ran out of steam.....me, not the machine!

Yes Bernie.....instead of asking daft questions he could have brought me a nice cool drink or fanned me.......or mopped the sweat from my brow.
I steamed the kitchen tiles too......these jobs go unnoticed, well until you don't do them, that is! |

He already knows that one....and has tried it......it doesn't work.....if he messes up, then he cleans up and repeats the exercise until he has got it right.....and if he doesn't get it right after three goes, then he is disciplined.
