Little bits of this and that...... but none of the other!
Now I feel like a proper RAT
Posted 11-07-2008 at 20:35 by Margaret Pilkington
I posted earlier about telephone cold calling....said I was mad at myself for missing a chance to use one of the methods for stopping these cold callers in their tracks(after all we all need to make a crust...and it is a job after all).
I had had a phone call even earlier than the one which left me kicking myself, but put the phone down on the caller, as I was overcome with a fit of choking coughing....and the daft foreign bird on the other end of the line must have heard me gasping for breath between coughs and carried on like nothing was happening......here I am blue in the face and wheezing and she is rabbiting on about services from Talk Talk......so no, that isn't why I feel a proper rat.
A young man rang from BT just before 8pm and asked to speak to Mr Pilkington......I asked him if he was a friend or a relative of the deceased(in spite of the fact that he had told me he was from BT)....the poor young man was all covered in confusion(they must not have a script for this kind of eventuality).....he apologised profusely for my sad loss and said that all the team at Bt send their condolences.......I was half tempted to ring back and say that my daft old ma with dementia has got to the phone before me....but thought better of it.
Thanks Lettie......if the Karma of life doesn't bite me in the bum for this I might just be tempted to use it again.
