Back in February....

Way back at the beginning of the year.....early February, I posted a blog where I said that life didn't guarantee happy endings.
I told you all about a very posh wedding we attended in Oz, some four years ago.
The blog ended by me telling you that this lovely couple had split up, decided to go their separate way and put their house on the market......and how sad I was, that something that started out so full of hope and optimism had ended in failure.
I was very sad for the couple in question, because they seemed like the perfect match....a golden couple even....and their marriage had been blessed by the arrival of a daughter....the fact that there was a baby involved saddened me even more......you see I am one of those old...

Ma has itchy feet again....!

Ma has itchy feet again and it can't be cured with athlete's foot cream!

I was speaking to Ma yesterday and she said that she wished we were going somewhere.
'Where, exactly?' I asked her.

'Oh anywhere , where they make your bed*, give you breakfast....somewhere where the sun sparkles on the water'

'Right' I said 'I'll book you for a week in the Altham Rest Home'

oh no, that wasn't quite what she meant.
I told her that we had only just got back from one jaunt...but it didn't make any difference...she said she wanted to go again...and then as a rider, she said
'You know, my time may be running out.....all the sand is at the bottom'
Cryptic or what?

I HATE Trivial Blitz.

I have never been much good at the arcade games, but I do like the games that require you to use your brain....like BOOKWORM....ADD LIKE MAD....and I thought I would be alright at Trivial Blitz.
I have played this game hundreds of times and thought that at a score over five thousand, I wasn't doing too badly(well for someone who knows practically nothing about films, Pop music and the like).
(who the Hell is WEEZER? And Which Films were directed by Martin Scorsese?....damned if I know....and who on earth knows the NBA teams?)
Then Grego goes and ups the ante to over ten thousand.....I have little or no chance at beating a score like that.(Grego, you must be one clever lady...I salute you girl)
I even had to look up...

To be continued......

Yes, I know I said 'to be continued'.....but sometimes life just gets in the way!

It was still grey and overcast when we arrived at Alfriston, but it was warm too...humid. I just knew that pushing the chair was going to have me wet through with my efforts.
The main street into the village only had a pavement on one side. Tony, our coach driver had told us to make sure to use the pavement as cars came whizzing through the village at a rate of knots......and that because of the winding lanes there was little chance of stopping if you were not on the pavement.

The pavement was not a bit wheelchair friendly...it was narrow and elevated from the road by about 18 inches to 2 foot in some places......if Ma went over...

Thursday Morning....to the shops!

Posted 23-05-2008 at 22:44 by Margaret Pilkington
Because it had been a much cooler night....and quieter too with the windows closed.....we both slept really well.
It was very grey and wet when we woke up.
Blast! I had left my splashproof Kagool at home.
The clouds looked heavy with the threat of more rain.
Ma was undeterred, she felt sure that the weather would brighten up, and that by the time we had eaten breakfast it would be fine.

Now you should ALWAYS listen to your Ma because in most cases she really does know best.
We had breakfast...a very leisurely one at that......and then back upstairs to get suited and booted for the shopping trip......and what do you know?
It had fined up. The sun wasn't exactly shining, but it was dry and still...
