Bye bye...

Posted 20-08-2006 at 18:59 by lettie
I said bye bye to the dogs this morning. My dad came back off his holidays in the early hours and I promised that I would have them home this morning. I have been looking forward to some peace after being constantly followed for that last 2 weeks.

I started preparing them for their trip home yesterday with a nice bath in the kitchen sink. I have to say that although they are tiny and relatively easy to bath they were less than impressed with my efforts. They seemed to shrink in the water and looked like a couple of rats until they dried. They were then groomed, eyes cleaned and given a chocolate drop for being good. They have both put a bit of weight on during their holiday at my house. I didn't know that miniature dogs could...

OK....own up who's got the sun?

I thought that I had read somewhere that August was going to be a continuation of the July heatwave......where is it then.......? Who's got it stuffed up their jumper.....?
I know it hasn't been cold, but it has been very grey and dismal and this isn't good for my joints or my energy levels.
I even dug out my yachting jacket. No, I haven't got a yacht. I thought I would start small, so I just bought the jacket. Today I really needed it it. The heavens opened and I would have been wet through if it had not been for the trusty jacket.

On a more cheerful note.....my daughter has sold her house, so it looks like a move is imminent. Well, if you call 4 weeks imminent that is.

Before the move there is...

If all else fails.....

Posted 15-08-2006 at 21:25 by Margaret Pilkington
Thanks Lettie for your help with my positive visualisation technique.......I will try that and see what happens.......if anyone in the neighbourhood of Clayton hears any blood curdling screams after midnight....you'll know that the dentist doesn't use anaesthetic ........no, it pays to have an ace in the hole doesn't it? I was rummaging in hubbys medication drawer and I have found two rather mouldy looking Diazepam 5mg.......I'm sure that they are out of date....but if the nerves do get to me then I may just be tempted to risk taking at least one of them!

Has anyone else noticed that the nights seem to be drawing in rather rapidly? One of the things that our Aussie visitors couldn't get over was that it was light for so long...

A stiff talking to.

Posted 15-08-2006 at 15:49 by Margaret Pilkington
Well it must be all of 2 weeks since the Emergency Dental team contacted me....which means that they will be sending for me in a couple of weeks.
So what have I been doing to come to terms with my fears about this appointment.......?
A few years ago, when I was still part of the NHS workforce, I was sent on a confidence boosting study day.......anyone who knew me from then didn't think that I needed to go on a confidence boosting study day.....but this study day was part of a bigger managemnt course that I was doing....so I had to attend. To my mind confidence is all smoke and mirrors....well, it is in my case. There was absolutely no substance to it at all. Many people found this hard to believe. I think that if you act confidently...

Back in time.

Posted 13-08-2006 at 14:42 by lettie
I have now had my little visitors for a week and they have settled in quite nicely...... too nicely. It's like the house is theirs and I'm the guest. I don't see how 2 such tiny dogs can take up so much space. The worst thing has been that I have noticed that my little visitors have some little visitors of their own..

They'd only been at my house for a day when I noticed one of them scratching. I used to do a regular flea patrol on my dog but unfortunately got rid of her comb when she died. I drove to Asda and bought a new one and set to. I confirmed my worst fears by using the comb and must have pulled 30 of the little buggers off the dogs, plus hundreds of eggs. I'm itching whilst writing this........ I have sprayed all...
