My Playing Career (1 year)

Posted 28-11-2004 at 11:11 by accystankev (Accystankevo & (Lea &) Perrins Go Large)

A 13 year old only just introduced to football by my younger brother, Ryan who aged 8 had already won Player Of The Season award twice, I was talked into joining Barnoldswick Barons under 14s.

Three weeks later and I was subbed on in the first match of the season and played on the left side of midfield. I was a little uneasy about this as I was useless with my left foot but professionally I carried on and played until the end. I didn't do much, I was too nervous but I was congratulated after the match on my tracking back and pace.

The next match saw me start in goal against all my school mates who played for Barlick Town. Disaster. I let 4 goals in in the first half before being switched to left back. Again...

Pity the poor Judiciary

Posted 28-11-2004 at 10:48 by Acrylic-bob (Madder Lake is my favorite colour)

Listening to the news yesterday my curiosity was piqued by a report that Their Lordships, the country's Judges, had gotten themselves into a bit of a mucksweat and were threatening to resign en masse. It seems that the government is planning to put a cap on pensions and tax the excess.

A tad unfair you might think, after all, a chap needs to provide for the needs of old age and all that. Until you realise that the cap will be placed on pensions of over one and a half million pounds.

Not content with having built up considerable fortunes from a life in private practice all of which is safely invested and returning a healthy income thank you and the salary of a judge which...

Accrington stanley 1-0 Canvey island

Posted 28-11-2004 at 10:42 by Steven (Accrington stanleys road to the football legue)

A win against a good Canvey team which now lifts us to fifth in thew table but everybody has a game in hand over us because of our game when everybody was in the F.A cup therefore when they play this extra game we can drop as low as eighth in the legue but hpefully our +5 Goal difference means we may only drop to sixth. Barnet still riding high at the top of the legue and Leigh RMI at the bottem and with our closest conference rivals morcambe sitting at thirteenth. Hopefully we can still push for promotion as with rory back from a hernia injury we look to be full strength!!! once again we are keeping the faith
