What ive been up to.....
Anyone got anything from South Africa they would lend me to help decorate a stall for Hassy Street Fair in September - i will look after it i promise and return it to you. I knew i shouldnt have gone to that meeting on thursday night!!!!
So what have i been doing?
Well besides swearing at the computer and the printer, catching up on my sleep after spug went home, trying to ring people and all i was getting was an ansaphone and finally thinking im going to throw this flipping fone through the window, shouting at spuggie cos he rang me up when NCIS was on ... i told you i was addicted ... now he asks when its on and i'll ring you after!!!
He learnt his lesson i tell you!!! lol
But what i have done is my garden .. and its took 3 days to do.
Daren't do anymore because i pulled my back today when picking up my wash basin full of weeds ... but it does look a damn sight better now its done.
My sis took me up to brookside on sunday to get some compost for the pots.
I'd emptied most of them seeing as they were full of roots and no plants.
Tip for anyone who does have pots ... when you fill them up if you dont have any stones to go in the bottom use the polystyrene the plants come in .... because you cant recycle them and it gets rid of it instead of filling your bin up. Ive used it for years ... and when i emptied the pots it were still there and they hadnt been emptied for 3 years.
Me and sis were wandering round brookside ... i ended up with strawberry plants, a fuschia, a couple of trays of plants and a tray of lettuce's.
This is an experiment .... or so sister says ... she may do them next year if they manage to live the summer with me ... As she says i plant stuff then leave em to it - if it grows it grows if it dont well tough!!!!
She got a couple of hanging baskets when we first got there she said i want a hanging basket well she got 2, and a bush that she said would look well in my garden ...
Then she said when are you going to weed the front ... i said ive made a start .... she said thats not weeding all you've done is made the grass a bit shorter...which in fact is what i did.
What it is i got a border that runs the width of the house and is about 3ft wide.
Every year when my dad was alive it was a forest of orange lillies which my parents had nabbed from my aunt lily and from my aunt sarah and a few other aunts and uncles.
It looked really nice must have been about 100 lillies in it. Then dad planted rose bushes in with them when he had to dig some of the lillies out. 2 red roses and 2 yellow roses - dad always liked red roses and mum liked yellow roses. So the garden always looked nice.
Then when dad died i took over......... and i managed to keep it going ... but bit by bit over the years the orange lillies died off and they didnt come back.
I used to buy orange lily bulbs down town to make sure mum still had some anyway one year i bought a mixture of different lillies ... and a red one grew and it looked really nice. So after that always bought a mixture and stuck them in ... and bought bedding plants etc
Mum used to nag me to make sure the garden was weeded and a bag of peat was dug in every year.
Well the last couple of years i havent felt like doing anything in the garden ... and last year with all the rain and everything .... i let it get full of weeds and grass.
So when sis said you need to weed that front i said i know i do.
So Sunday after the pots were all done ... i started into it.
Started again into it on Monday... dug all along the front to make sure you could tell where the lawn ended and the border began and got the weeds out all from the edge and started weeding round the peonies... and picking the petals up when the wind blew them off.
Today i finished it.
Its all dug over, there are still weeds in it ..but i cant get to them because the lillies and the peonies are there so too close to the roots ... i'll wait for the lillies to flower, and the peonies to die back a bit before getting at them.
I just now have to dig in some compost which i have but i got a slight problem ... my back.
So anyone fancy doing a spot of gardening?
I will keep you supplied with brews!!!
Oh and sis on sunday gave me some plants most of which are in the pots round the back - but she gave me some sunflowers and a poppy which do need to go in the front.
