Mum hasnt been so good lately she seems to be getting worse. The carer walked out tonite on her which im not surprised. Mum's been on holiday - she went in respite for two weeks to give me a break and also to give her a break from me! I called in on the Saturday after work the day she went in to sort her medication out and ended up going in on the Sunday and Monday as well. After that i didnt see her for the rest of the time. My sisters and brother went in to see her. She has to go into a home with an emi unit now because she has been diagnosed with dementia. EMI to the ones who dont know means elderly medical unit. Anyway here goes. As you know my mum has carers in the morning and at nite. I'm having problems with the care agency. I've rang and told my social worker and shes looking into it so i've gone official. Mum hasnt been so well for the last few days. She has been having her chest pains again. She told me I thought she was a hypochondriac and she wouldnt tell me when she wasnt so well because i didnt believe her. Anyway rang the doctors today and had to go through the triage process again before the doctor would come out. Anyway she's got a chest infection and a bit of pleurisy on her left hand side. Its hard being a carer especially of being a carer of someone who has dementia. Thats me - Im my mums carer who was diagnosed with dementia 2 yrs ago. Im lucky in a way because i have my sisters & brothers who help but sometimes its just me because I live with her and when she is in a mood its me she takes it out on me. I also have carers coming in and getting her up and putting her to bed. Like the time she called me a prostitute or she says that i'm not her daughter i am her sisters daughter or that when I was born I was a boy and the midwife took the boy away and gave him to my dad and my dad then gave me back to her - well confusing isnt it but that is what it is like.
