Square Eyed cat

It all started with Laura's DVD of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". There's a section that shows how some of the special effects were acheived and one of them is about the squirrel scene.
It was about 6 months ago we were watching it and Maddie, the cat, was lying on the pouffé more or less asleep when the squirrel movements caught her eye. She started to watch what was happening on the screen and, within a few minutes, she was sitting up and taking a keen interest in the proceedings.
After showing how the few tame squirrels were trained, the clip showed the computer enhanced scene with dozens of squirrels running around. Maddie left the pouffé and hopped up on the TV table, spellbound. After a minute she tried to leap into the TV screen and sat for a minute looking, and no doubt feeling, very silly before sauntering off to the kitchen as if nothing had happened.
Well, that was the start of it. Up to then she had taken little or no interest in the telly but, ever since that day, she has become a fan. She lies, stretched out, on the pouffé which is strategically placed, from her point of view, to enhance...er...her point of view and she keeps an eye on the screen. As soon as something catches her eye she gives it all her attention.
Her favourite programme, without a doubt, is "You've Been Framed". She particularly likes the clips with animals, especially dogs and cats. Following that, she's very keen on Harry Hill's "TV Burps" and she rounds off her Saturday evenings with X Factor. These programmes are not the only ones she'll watch, though. She seems to have acquired a whole new perception and you'll often catch her looking in. Adverts, of course, appeal to her and she tried the "jump into the screen" trick again, the other day, while watching an advert for some toy or other.
I suppose there are worse habits a cat could have, it's harmless and it keeps her off the streets - and the fences, and the gardens, and the trees. She has one other habit but it's more of a fetish - a shoe fetish. She adores shoes, especially Laura's. She worships Laura as only a cat can and loves to cuddle, play with and dribble on her shoes but, at a pinch, anyone's shoes will do. It's nearly as good as watching the telly.
