Hey, You, Get Out Of My Face!

Posted 10-01-2009 at 21:21 by West Ender

It happens in car parks, doesn't it? I mean, you park on an empty row with and you can bet the next car to arrive will park right next to you.

It happened to me the other day. I'd had another slight chest infection (wasn't ill, just coughing like half the local population but, with my condition, I have to have an antibiotic if I get an infection) and saw one of the new, young, dishy doctors who have replaced David, my newly retired GP. Being young and keen the new chap thought I should have a chest X-ray so I duly appointed myself for Thursday afternoon at 1.30.

I arrived at X-ray reception and booked in 10 minutes early. There are about 30 seats in the reception area and there were 5 people already waiting. I sat down on the end of an empty row.

After no more than 5 minutes an old chap came in and booked in at the desk. He then turned round and surveyed the waiting area - and came and sat down right next to me. All those empty chairs and he had to choose that one! It irritated me but, thankfully, I only had to wait another couple of minutes before I was called.

Why do they do it? Is it safety in numbers? Colin, my late husband, used to say it was the herding instinct. I'm not anti-social but I like my own space and it annoys me when people invade it.

Oh well, maybe it's just me.

Glad the doctor sent you for a chest x-ray better safe than sorry. People seemed to always gravitate towards Ian as well especially the weird ones. We had some laughs about it over the years. Hope the infection clears up or maybe seeing a dishy doctor is no great hardship
