Air Ambulance Clothing Collection

Just wondered if anyone else suspected that the bags of clothing being left out are stolen by "rogues"? (Could think of stronger words).

I noticed a few months ago some men in a blue rover collecting green bags from outside my neighbours houses. I went outside because I wanted a spare bag and when I crossed the road to speak to them, they drove off and didn't stop at other houses that were awaiting collections.

Also, when I leave bin bags out marked with "clothing - air ambulance" , very rarely do I get left a green bag in return. This leaves me wondering whether someone else is taking them or whether they have stopped collecting?

It really angers me too to receive so called "charity" requests for clothing so really try hard to ensure my gifting goes where I'd like. Trying a charity shop is hit & miss. Esp the Age Concern one in Ossy. They usually have very ungrateful signs demanding not to receive certain items. Why can't they request politely.

Grrrrrr.......

Re: Air Ambulance Clothing Collection

A few months ago I left a bag out which was never collected.
I later saw a request for that particular size clothing on Freecycle so they got it.
They may have been rogues too, how can we know?

Hyndburn Council are still collecting clothing items in green bags for the air Ambulance. however there have been problems with rogue traders taking the bags, which then mean you don't get an empty bag back.

Is there nothing sacred today, just a point claytonender, do charities still need a licence to make these door to door collections for clothes, I know they do for things like envelope collections or town centre flag days and tin collections

I am not sure about the a licence for door to door collection of clothes but will find out.
Unfortunately, I think it is some very unscrupulous people who are taking the green bags.
