Does t`know

The back alley that runs parallel to Union Rd, between the library and Roe Greave Rd as archways going over it, does anyone know why ?? If you dont know where i mean, then you wont know anyway.

Re: Does t`know

I know where they are, they run behind my families bakery.

I've no idea why they were built like, that when other terraces don't.

Maybe it was something to do with the old Co-op, because every block they are on used to have a Co-op shop on. The now demolished site of the main Co-op, now the carpark/new church site, also had arches over the back alleys. Perhaps they were built like that because of deliveries.

I know the people whose houses are above them are frightened of fire, because teens have been sheltering under there at night and sometimes light fires.

I believe they were there to allow horse drawn delivery vehicles access to the shops etc.

Re: Does t`know

Apparently they used to unload from above with some sort of lifting apparatus - sugar, flour & stuff was delivered in sacks and then packaged on site as and when bought.
