The discovery that Walter Bowman, of Canada, Accrington Stanley and Ardwick (now Manchester City), was the first overseas player is but one of many curiosities in a book

I never knew that! Thanks for sharing that with us, Mani, but does the "we" mean that we can expect to see you on the Clayton End anytime soon?

first team to play under floodlights? might have been first league game or first friendly or something - got a vague memory of having read that.

first team to have a heated stand - directors stand in early fifties

first team to go belly up

first town to have three separate league teams all of the same guise?

first team to make the long road back from oblivion

too many firsts its spooky!

A Canadian!!!!!! Yes, yes, yes. Probably got his start by kicking grizzly bears in the ass. Warning: do not try this at home; to be done only by trained professionals on hibernating bears with their false teeth out.
