MR ADRIAN SHURMER, author of "Shurmer's Official Guide of Hyndburn".

can't remember his first name but he was a driving instructor apparently and back in the day he wrote the guide to Accrington books (the little red things) Apparently he took the concept further and led the way for doing them for all other towns. Maybe.

If they were all strung out along Eastgate some of the buses could end up quite a way out of the town centre. I'm not so sure it's all that good an idea.

question ....whats was wrong with the original bus station on the side of the Market Hall ? are there so many accidents that it is unsafe ? seem to remember that it was wide enough for three bus bays ( Black Dog-Clayton, on the side next to the Market Hall , Haslingden route buses in the middle and the green Blackburn corporation buses on the other side near to Garth Dawsons , plus other stops for Accy corporation bus routes )
if it aint broke ......dont fix it .......

They already did fix it steeljack. That's why it's now broke!

They took half of it away and have built the new outside market there. Where the old outside market was is now a block of shops. The buses are all over the place and there's never enough room to fit them in. Some are up Infant Street, some have to stop to let people off and then lurk around before they can pull into their bus stops for people to get on. The Fern Gore bus drops people outside Garth Dawsons when it comes into town but to catch it to come back up Fern Gore you wait outside the chemists near the top of Peel Street (which is also the Manchester bus stop and the Blackburn hospitals bus stop!)

Oh yes, and some are on Bank Street.

Definitely was, he and his wife used to live on the same road as my parents in the eighties.

Adrian was (and still is, I suppose :) ) my best mate's dad when we were growing up together in Harwood. His son was the best man at my wedding. I haven't seen his dad for a year or so as I don't get home much but I think he's still doing OK.
