One individual who has inspired me and managed to spread the the good name of Accy far and wide is Bob Dobson. A former pupil of Accrington Grammar School, Bob has written books on Accrington and has gone on to have a successful career in publishing.
heck thats a blast from the past- used to sup with bob in the black bull in the 60s, saw him years later in the market, then aint seen him since, a guy i'd completely forgotton,(sorry bob if you read this) lol
On second thoughts he was an AGS lad but was mates with some Ossy Tech boys I new. I know it is the same Bob Dobson because he has given me a signed copy of one of his books, and as he gave it to me he remarked that my hair is still ginger.
There is a letter in the Observer this week from a Bob Dobson living in Blackpool, pleading the case to save St. John's Church. Sure will be the same person, well constructed letter.
Said he went to St. John's, then Accy Grammar, course didn't give his age.
