Re: David Lloyd
I think you,ll find it was a different David Hughes who played for Willow Mount. Quite right about David LLoyd playing a few games with Stanley reserves back in the 60s. I think he was a year behind me at the tech, a great protege of Bob Cunliffe.

after discussion with a mate (guy who knows better n me) he did play for Cambridge Street Methodists, and also Cedar Swifts who were the top team in accy at the time, David Hughes, Bob (rats)Ratcliffe, and later Bernard Reidy all played for 1 or the other. as n aside Jack Simmons was also a very good footballer, was on Evertons books for a time.

Re: David Lloyd
Jack Simmons, also a Tech lad, played four or five seasons with Great Harwood in the mid 60s, quit after breaking his leg for the third time.

David Lloyd's father was a lay minister at Cambridge Street, as well as preaching at other churches on the local Methodist cicuit, and a very good preacher he was too.

Re: David Lloyd
I played against David back in the early 60s. I played for Church under 18s and Lloydy played for Accy under 18s, he was a class act even then. I remember one Monday night at West End when he hit us all over the place, I'm not sure but I think he score a ton+ not out. Oh by the way we didn't win
