Hockey

Our own Valerie Robinson, nee Walsh took up hockey whilst playing for The Accrington High School for Girls. Many was the time I "worshipped" her from afar! She went onto greater things and became "the first working class girl" to be capped for her country, winning 150 caps in all. She was awarded an OBE for her services to the sport.

Re: Hockey

Yep...and she still runs 10 miles a week and plays hockey regularly for Blackburn (and she's old enough to have her bus pass).

By the way she's my sister-in-law, and a fine and honest person. A good Footballer (in her young days known as the female Stanley Mathews), Golf and Badminton player, she is a great sporting example to all, and especially an oustanding Accrington person.
