When is a link not a link?

When is a link not a link?

What I mean is, when you do a search (google) for a particular website and you find a load of links to that site and then you click on those links they actually take you to somewhere else rather than where they are supposed too.

For example;

Search for;

BurlieghNonconformistsForum

When you find the links click on them and see where they take you or is this happening only at my end.. Strange

Re: When is a link not a link?

same here. I wonder if google has something to do with it.
I have a similar site and noticed that the hits on the site have diminished. The site never got that many hits anyhow but now it’s getting a lot less.

Maybe it will come right in the next few days.

I got to a site featuring the latest edition of 'Whistle Blower' magazine. Is that the one you were after?

Re: When is a link not a link?

I know goggle bots and alike crawl sites and collect information so that when people do a google search on particular topics/ phrases they can then display the information gathered and show where the info came from by way of the links but in these cases it appears to have gone pear shaped.

No that isn’t the site that the example is related to.
This is;

Click Here

But you can not get to the site by following the links provided by google for some reason.

Re: When is a link not a link?

try using the 'cached' page. I often search techie forums and google is excellent at cataloging the pages but their seraches are often out dated withing hours. teh cached pages usually gets you the page you initially wanted

It led me to some very interesting sites Len.

Must be a bit frustrating when you're hoping people will find yours though.

Re: When is a link not a link?

you didn't think of using the cached page did you you'll find it highlights the words for you too.
It looks like the page has been deleted so google or someother ad company the site use have put their own search on there
