Coke ovens

I went for a walk the other day to them coke ovens and took these pics just click on the link to see the rest of the pics.

I was wondering if anyone has any more info on them when they were last used and when they were last fired up.
or has anyone got some old pics of them in use ?
any help please.

Hi Mick,
I used to play around this area when I was a lad, ecky thump!

We used to call them "the fairy caves" no idea why but I'm curious about those too.

Dad I can't see any ovens just a load of grass and a few rocks and boulders, next time your up at the optitions just get them to check your glasses. lol

Mick, slightly off thread I know, but I don't suppose you've got any pictures of the remains of the old POW camp in Stanhill do you?

There used to be something similar just to the east of the tracks by Accy railway station, I know they haven't existed there for donkeys now but I distinctly remember the bollocking I got from my mum for playing in there.

I saw something about that's where they where stashing the bodies after they'ed been grave robbing at St James.

No wonder my mum didn't want me playing in there :-)
