Re: con club

It's a fabulous (grade 2) listed building, now empty, it was once the largest Conservative Club in the country, the Majestic Ballroom on the top floor is a fabulous room. In later years, the club became a nightclub locally known as Churchills.
Sadly though due to fire/vandals it's another of Accrington's fine buildings thats been left rotting away.

Re: con club

There has been a couple of threads on Accrington Web re the Con Club previously, which attracted a lot of postings and much interest. A grand old building gone to waste.

When we visited the UK in 2012 my other half was saddened at the state of the building, how it has deteriorated over the years. He has fond memories of evenings spent (or should I say misspent) there in his youth.

Magpie, for some reason I can't open the link you gave - maybe I'll try another way to get on to it.
