Old Farm House A679 (Next to Mother Red Cap)

I've No history on this one apart from it was built in 1900.
I believe it was a pretty large dairy farm at one time before it was abandoned,I was kinda hoping someone on here might have some history

ENJOY

Good looking house, lovely original fireplaces - what a waste!

I've often wondered about the history of that building and why it's derelict. It's been like that as long as I can remember.

There is a pic on the link below of "Redcap Farm" being dwarfed by the brewery that use to be next door
(until Thwaites brewery bought them out ,I heard that the house was damaged during the demolition in 1975).

Fountain Free Brewery, Mother Redcap, Rishton.

Thank you very much for that info. I find it fascinating. I just NEVER knew there had been a brewery there. Hadnt a clue. A long time ago, I am sure the firm I worked for used to send items to be plated in stainless steel etc., I am sure the firm was called Redcap Platers Ltd (or something similar) and was just a small building in a field (next to where the Brewery once stood).

Nice one Accyexplorer!

Seems this place is a 'chop shop'

Ł350k of stolen plant gear found on Blackburn farm (From Lancashire Telegraph)

I knew there was something 'fishy' about this place, this is what i saw in the back barn

Thumbs up Re: Old Farm House A679 (Next to Mother Red Cap)

I like the addition of the music. My favourite bits of the video come when the camera slows down so the viewer can linger a bit

As an Urban Explorer, have you seen inside the Palladium building on Union Rd in Ossy? My son has wanted to see inside it for ages.

I don't think you should actually be going in either the farmhouse or the Palladium

If you look at the signature of Accyexplorer he says that what he does is dangerous and he doesn't encourage anyone else to do it.

This house, I am pretty sure used to be owned by Townsons Dairy farmers.
I used to pass the place every day on my way to the Royal Infirmary and I am sure one of the Townson girls trained to be a nurse........I think she was a cousin of those who had the farm. That is as much as I know about the place.

It is sad when large family houses are allowed to fall into such disrepair. I can imagine it making a superb living space......but at some cost.

Re: Old Farm House A679 (Next to Mother Red Cap)

I am in doubt abut the name of this farm. Because it is on the top side of the Red Cap, I think it is in Ossie, and may well be Wolfenden Farm,Blackburn Rd, occupied in 1951 by Mr Whalley. The last buildings in Accrington Rd, Blackburn at that time were No 401,(Mrs Stavert). Redcap Plating Works, Ribble Paints & Varnishes , then the Red cap (Mr Duffy)

The brewery's name lives in in the Fountain Inn, further among Accrington Rd

Wolfenden Farm is further down the road......almost opposite to where the Daisy Dairy was.
I know this to be so as they sell pet foods and one of their relatives used to live across the road from me.

I was just thinking the same thing Margaret as our milkman from years ago lived there. He was a lovely man called Bill Hindle who passed away some years ago.
