Hiya,

So this is the link that has finally lead me to joining this forum

I was wondering why my Flickr stats were rocketing for this photo and then when I noticed many of the views were coming from this forum I thought it best I join, seeing as I live in Accrington, it only seemed appropriate.

Glad to see that the collage I produced of these signs is of use. There are 3 missing from the set. 1 from the Con Club on Whalley Road which seems to have been removed and then 2 others which I didn't get round to visiting, but will do so once I get a chance.

Cheers

Dawn

I too did the "Signs of Life " walk although not all at the same time, and found there to be two missing from the collection, the one you mention at the Conservative club, and the second at the very bottom of Lower Barnes Street. The one on the club should have been the Leeds to Liverpool plaque, and the Lower Barnes Street one should have been the Wild and Furious Serpent plaque. I don't know who looks after the plaques so didn't know who to contact about them.

Hi Dave,

Oh dear, what a pity there are two missing. It would be great if they could be replaced as it makes for a very interesting little walk around to find them, especially if one has the historic information pertaining to each of them.

I'm not sure if the office, next to the post office on Pickup Street in Clayton will be able to shed some light on this. If I get a chance when I'm at the post office next, I will pop in and ask.

Cheers

Dawn

Must have a look next time I visit, last time I'm sure it was a car park for the co-op.

While I am on, does anyone know where I can find a picture of the old Clayton Urban District Coucil crest. I had to visit the new Blackburn Royal a while ago and there are windows in there showing the crests of all the local councils except Clayton.
The building you mention was the old Clayton town hall.
