Re: Roughlee Nursing Home Accrington

Such a lot of Accrington Babes born there.

Brother: 1939
Me: 1943
Daughter: 1965
Son .. think was closed then, 1982, had to deliver at Queen's Park due to my age, then shipped to Bramley Meade for recovery.

I think Garinda that I would have been in Rough Lee when you were born. My daughter was born 3rd January, 1965 ... you were born 7th January, 1965, and know stayed in there the statutory 10 days, as it was then.

Bet you were the baby that kept me awake at night ...

I recall Garinda saying he was born at Bramley Meade in 65.
I remember specifically because my son was born there June 65.

You are correct Margaret .. sorry Garinda:-

Was Garinda's post .. never seem to be able to copy/paste a post properly.

He was also asking Grego (who had been born there later) if she had seen his teddy called Percy .. LOL.

I was born amongst the pick and mix in Woolworths....oh no, that's a lie.

I was born in Bramley Meade in Whalley in 1965, or was it 1865?

I've always made a lot of noise.

It may have been me keeping you awake....all the way from Bramley Meade, where I came into this world.

You never will, you were found under a gooseberry bush, didn't your mother tell you.

Re: Roughlee Nursing Home Accrington

Katex, I owe you an apology. For the last 5 hours I have been telling my friends in Accrington and elsewhere that you were CONCEIVED by the Pick & Mix in Woolworth's. This leads me to tell you ( this is true) that a friend of mine was told by his father (?)that he was conceived on the stairs ( at home, not in Woolworth's) He calls himself 'The Son of the Immaculate Conception" No wonder that priests give him funny looks.
I am tempted to write a limerick about Pick & Mix.

This is getting funnier, if you and Jaysay cared to read my post properly It was Garinda who said about the Pick and Mix ..

Just don't seem able to do a copy/paste well on posts showing the contributor.

Will ask in 'Helps' (but will read all the FAQS first )

Re: Roughlee Nursing Home Accrington

I was born in Roughlee in 1942 and according to my mum it was dreadful. I had my two children there in 1963 and 1968 and I thought it was fine. I never saw any cats whilst I was there. I stayed in for 12 days and was glad of it. I now live in Manchester and the care my daughter had when she had my grandson did not approach the care I had in Roughlee
