The Old Bakery On Burnley Road...

Does any one remember the old bakery on burnley road?

On the corner of Arnold Street?

Ran by May and George Kerr??

It closed in 1992 & was sold on in 1994....

Corner of Burnley Rd and Arnold St. The Gt Eastern Pub is a bit further along on Arnold St. Shut now unfortunately The shop has recently re-opened again, a second hand shop.

There was another good bakers shop on Burnley Road higher up than that, Greens used to go in there when I worked at Townley's Joiners in the sixties, they also had a shop in Ossy at the bottom of Haworth St opposite the clinic, they decided to expand and moved into the Vine Mill Ossy, think they were taken over by the same firm that own Hollands

can remember it from 50s- early 70s used to use it occasionally, cant remember who had it though.

Yes I know it was my grandma and grandads...

I spent the first few years of my life there....

I can remember sitting on the top eating a fresh meat n tata pie out the oven... best pie I ever had!! I was only 2 and a half me mam said...

Just wondering if anybody on here knew them xx

Hi, I used to babysit a little girl called Deborah who lived there above the bakery. This was in the early 1970’s..I agree that the meat & potato pies Mr Kerr made were THE BEST. They were good times in Accy.

Hi, I used to babysit a little girl called Deborah in the flat above the bakery in early 70’s. I seem to recall she had beautiful golden red haired..is that you? Mr & Mrs Kerr were from Scotland & he was a superb baker. ..agree with you about the pies����
