On the back of the photo it says Lamont's Farm which caused some confusion at first until I read somewhere that the owners were called Lamont, rather than it being the name of the farm.
When we go up, we will be on foot so I can take plenty of photographs.
I have read your comments about the book on other threads but assume there must be some truth in there amongst the fiction.
Are there any similar books around which are accurate or will future generations continue to be equally misinformed, believing that to be the truth?

We only have a bit of information about the others, I thought they were more from WW1 it seems there is only one.

James Hodgkinson DOB 1881 - Sapper Royal Engineers - 1918

Can I access WW2 records via the library or perhaps you could suggest another avenue?

Alec Whittaker - Sapper - 711 Company - Iceland Force - 1922859
Lt Corporal Joseph Baxter - KIA - Appears on a memorial at Le Touret
James Baxter - Royal Horse Artillery - Served in India

We have a few more from WW2 but we don't want to take on too much at once.

You have now moved into an area which I don't cover, my interest is WW1, however I do know that WW2 records are available, but only to direct blood kin, ie children or grandchildren. Sorry but I no longer have the address of the place where those records are held. Try ringing Fulwood, the curator should know.

Your best bet is to contact Accrington library, either on a Monday or a Friday when John Simpson is on, he will know of any other works, I have seen Huncote & Clayton mentioned, there are also several knowledgeable people on the other areas of Greater Accrington, on a web site known as Hyndburn Chat.

Thanks, the 2 James Hodgkinsons are my wife's Uncle and his father so we may not be able to access those records.
Is the Hyndburn Chat the Facebook group?

Do you recall a Meadow Head Farm, in the Accrington area and the name of Kosher associated with that farm.
I have found a Meadow Head farm at Hothersall but not in Accrington.

There are two Meadow Head Farms in F. Divisions old patch.
1 is Meadow Head in Baxenden bottom of Alliance St, turn left into Mill St, then turn right just befor the mill entrance farm is at top of hill
2 is in Ramsgreave nr Blegburn just off Ramsgreave Rd.

The farm down Alliance Street is the one associated with us. Once we had found it, on the map, my wife remembered going down there, across the railway bridge and up past Bridge Cottages. Her family seem to have connections with most of the farms in the area through the farms themselves, the local farming association and a milk round which we are also investigating.
It seems to be the more we find out, the more we don't know but we are discovering all kinds of things about the family and people like yourself, with a deep local knowledge make the information easier to research from a distance.

I have seen several references on here to Brox Farm, where is that?
I assume it is around Brox Road or Brox Heights Lane.

I have found a few references to Brox Farm within this forum but how do I list the specific posts which contain the phrases. I can find the appropriate thread but one in particular has over 500 pages, is the only way to trawl through all the pages?

Its correct name is High Riley Brox and its hot far fro High Riley Farm, which some call Spire Farm, with out digging my book out I would reckon its half way between Spire & Heights.
