New Mayor
In the 'My Life' column of the Observer this week, states our next Mayor, Edith Dunston, as being at the age of 81 !! Photograph belies this. If not a misprint, don't you think this is a wonderful .. good on her. Gayle, no push then

Re: New Mayor
Agree with you Katex, she looks great. I also wonder if it's a mis-print or an old photo, she doesn't look 81.

Re: New Mayor
No, she's really 81 and she does look good for her age. She's got a really young spirit which helps.

Re: New Mayor
Makes about as much sence as an old Pope to me. What does the Mayor do except cost us money and why do we want/need one. I would rather have a Community Warden than a Mayor thank you.

Wish I had the time tonight, best of luck Neil
Gotta' have some sort of head to open the Carnival, etc. You'd probably want an Accy Stanley footballer or summat. (or do they already!)

You are only as old as you feel. Think you are old and you will be. Think as a 40 yo and you are laughing.

Re: New Mayor
Think yourselves lucky, at least you don't have Red Ken Livingstone - the man who has done more to bring London to a halt than Hitler ever managed! Thanks to our wonderful Mayor, we have again a two-tier system of local government in London - this year, on top of the swingeing Council Tax (and our borough, Camden, are putting it up by TWICE the rate of inflation), we have an extra £300 to pay just for the privilege of having Ken b****r things up!

Re: New Mayor
Well, we've now had the good news. The extra council tax for Red Ken's little empire this year is £352.75. That's on top of the huge amount that Camden charge us. But of course, we have the bendy buses, and Ken has to feed his newts somehow.
