Archery

That convict Ronnie Barker played, he was an archer...

...no, hang on, he was a Fletcher.

Re: Archery

Getting back on thread, before Ski gets upset, I thought of taking up archery when they took my handguns off me. Another form of target shooting and I worked with a guy who was well up in it.

Somehow it didn't have the same appeal as handgun shooting. A bow and arrow didn't have the beautiful engineering of a gun and seemed crude by comparison.

But I sometimes wish I'd tried it.

He counts, Less. Without Fletchers there wouldn't be any Archers.

No I don't think he does count, no archer would have the strength for a five year stretch.

Re: Archery

Love the comments - Unfortunately William Tell used a Cross Bow – hence not classified as an Archer – He was an arbalest. I don’t intend to be mean – but no points sorry.
As for the rest, I did ask for Olympic Archers – therefore you have not read the question correctly and have gained zero points.
Looks like I have to keep the prize money….
(Such a shame)

Re: Archery

You should have gone for a Compound Bow - a thing of beauty.
Just Google Matthews bows or Hoyt - you will see what I mean.

I used to shoot - 303s - SLRs - SA80s, and 2.2 live ammo.

Still love guns, but Archery need more control and and dedication. We do shoot up to 100 yards trying to hit a Gold the size of a CD.

Re: Archery

OMG (O my Gold) you are really STRINGING me along – I may have to BOW out gracefully – I am getting older and not as FITA as I used to be. My may have to BRACE myself for a further onslaught. I may also have to CLOUT someone, as the COMPETITION is increasing. We may have to go HEAD to HEAD (H2H). You are now ganging up on me like COMPOUND interest, I like to WIN & WIN, but I am aware that there is SAMICK going on behind the scenes. Some people are quite HOYTy toity – others or more STABILISED. I think I need to press the PRESSURE BUTTON, or just have a REST, DRAW BACK and HOLD until I am ready to really let go.
(Check out the words in Capitals)

Have a nice day.

Re: Archery

Well, if that's how Archers talk I'm glad I didn't join!
Can't be checking every third or fourth word to understand you. A conversation would take forever.
