A Place to Call Home

A few decades ago Australia was thought of as a cultural backwater and their soap operas did nothing to alter that opinion.

I have found an Australian drama series named 'A Place to Call Home' - what an eye opener!
Set in the early 50s it is quite a well acted drama with good story lines.
There are 15 episodes playable on BBC iplayer. I have watched the first 6 consecutively - just can't stop watching one after the other.

If you need a break from Christmas films, these are a tonic.
BBC iPlayer - A Place to Call Home

They have come a long way since 'Skippy the Bush Kangaroo'

It's a change from all the repeats that will be on.

Margaret, Skippy is still Australia's biggest export ever. From a global viewpoint it was shown in over 120 countries worldwide, more than any other program before or since

And the old boy is still doing it now in his new format, as "Steaks"!

Re: A Place to Call Home

I have now watched all 15 available episodes.
There are so many plot twists that if you intend to watch it you must start at the beginning.

It is shown as 'This programme is not currently available on BBC iPlayer' - what a pity- that looks good too

That is very noble of you, but please don't go to that much trouble for me.
