Last Nights Top Gear and Das Auto

if you saw the last 10 minutes of TG last night you will know what I mean.
So they may be silly and irrelevant at times, but asking every manufacturer of Motor Vehicles and parts, including Racing cars, Military Equipment, even ride on lawn mowers to join them on the Mall in celebration of British Manufacturing brought a tear to my eye.
For those that missed it, the Mall was full of British Built vehicles, maybe foreign owned, but still made here by British workers. It is such a shame that BL were so bad and it took the Germans and Japanese to lead the way.

Speaking of the former, the program that came after TG was about the rise of the German auto industry.
Very telling, of course we did not help it, Bad Management, militant Unionization, Bad products and bad marketing, it was not all doom and gloom, although we are owned by the Schmidts at least there are jobs here.

The sad thing is this, I really would love to own a British built car, but we do not have anything that is as good as my trusty old BMW coupe, the dammed thing will not stop, in some ways I wish it would, then I could persuade Mrs BG to let me buy a new car, but there you go.

I have no doubt our usual cut and paste brigade did not watch either or listened to what was said.

I watched top gear .. and saw the parade down the mall .. thought it was funny when they said the f1 cars were leaving a lot later than everyone else .. and when you think of the motorised vehicles that are all built here ... even the street sweepers and the dustbin lorries were represented .. and james may's routemaster that he took round somerset .. wonder if he does have a pcv licence .. lol

I watched it as well Si, it must have taken a lot of sweet talk to get permission to use the Mall and also get all the manufactures together to bring the vehicles.
Good documentary, it praised the British workers and knocked the management, unusual.
